Description
'Cobnut' comprises Wendy Taylor's esteemed Seed Series which was exhibited at the Cass Sculpture Foundation in 2005. All of the works in the series - from a poppy seed head to a giant bronze almond - deal with the notion of time and potential and, in keeping with Taylor's oeuvre, represent the artist's distinctive naturalistic bent.
Seeds are symbols of potential energy and life that are encased in a species specific pod, husk or shell, each of which serves a different function pertinent to the conditions the seed needs in order to grow. Taylor's series is a celebration of these often overlooked and humble heroes of the natural world. 'Cobnut' and its counterparts are a fantastic example of the unadulterated beauty of nature.
