Description
Quinn is preoccupied with life, death and survival, as illustrated by the distinctly biological aspect to his work. Cyberetically Engineered, Cloned and Grown Rabbit aptly illustrates this preoccupation through reference to 'cybernetics,' a branch of science in which electronic and mechanical systems are studied and compared to biological systems. Quinn's visceral, flayed and headless rabbit carcass is appealingly grotesque in all its artificiality as it circumvents the 'natural' method of procreation. Having once been an apprentice to Barry Flanagan, Quinn's rabbit is a darkly comic take on Flanagan's characteristic hare sculptures.
