Description

Billy Lee's maquette of a head form has a strong, mask-like quality, like ancient Japanese or Chinese helmets, or heads of African sculptures. The figure is assimilated into the head, although the degree of distortion moves the form from a purely figurative sculpture towards an abstract composition. Lee frequently works in China, and the influence is acknowledged.
