Description

In his new work, Cypher, for Sculpture at Goodwood, Tim Morgan has bound together thousands of glass rods with a steel belt forming a large disc. The effect is magical, and one that suggests the sculptor is playing with the notions of the real and the unreal, with the sculpture becoming a conduit for psychedelic experience.

It is this illusive quality that is prevalent in many of Tim Morgan's artworks. From objects filled with silky oil, to glass sculptures rooted in ponds and puddles, Morgan attempts to distort the natural order of nature and its transitory lifespan. The results reveal the tensions existing between humanity and the environment, and man's ceaseless quest for longevity.

Morgan describes his sculptures as "environmental interventions, objects that aim to reveal the boundaries that exist in our world, philosophically and scientifically". Cypher is designed to do just that and the environment within which it is currently sited should only help to support the artist's creative intentions.
