Description

Regardless of History is one of a series of sculptures in which Woodrow uses the head combined with a book as the central motif. Here the head resembles a piece of fallen statuary which is being crushed by a weight of knowledge contained within the book. A tree grows over the book, head and the plinth which becomes an expression of the predominance of nature over man, his knowledge and civilisaton. The monumental sculpture was installed in Trafalgar Square from March 2000 as part of the Fourth Plinth project.
