Little Scylla

2001

Description

The key to 'Little Scylla' is the changing nature of the sculpture through the rise and fall of water in the form of a vortex. The water is driven in a circular motion to form an air-core vortex at its centre, filling from the base, rising, twisting and writhing. When spilling over the top of the acrylic vessel, the air core becomes regular and rope-like and the water is clear. After some time the pump switches off, the water subsides and the process begins again.
