Eva Drewett

Around Man

1991

Description

Eva Drewett writes: 'I am a book. The more you read me the more you think you know me. You may not have read me properly. I may not be your sort of book. We think that we are in control of our lives but, in fact, we are just like puppets who are driven by destiny. The Argentinean author, Julio Cortazar, has been very influential in my thinking. All his stories revolve around the theme that everything that happens to us is predetermined, not necessarily with any religious connotation. The back is (again) without any definite sex, the spine is the main supporting structure for most creatures - and for most objects. The words on the pages are from a Cortazar book which is important to me. They are symbolic, not meant to be read. This gives you the opportunity to erase my writing and put your own in its place.'
