British Sculpture in the 21st Century

22 October 2009: The new shape of Cass

The new Cass Sculpture logo

Here at the Cass Sculpture Foundation we are always looking for ways to progress and evolve. So with the brilliant design mind of Mervyn Kurlansky, the driving force behind many Foundation publications, including the iconic Vision For Twenty-First Century Sculpture, we have revamped our style. The Foundation has developed this new visual identity to facilitate its international marketing programme and to strengthen its brand in preparation for London 2012.

The Family and Foundation's name has been transformed with a new logo. The four letters of Cass stand out in a totally unique typeface, as if they have been sculpted out of the coloured square behind them.

The new emphasis is on the family name expressed in a typographic style that suggests sculptural forms. The deliberate removal of the cross bar from the letter A gives the word an idiosyncratic quality engaging the viewer's attention by involving him or her in the act of discovery.

The square coloured background in which the name sits, suggests a link with the past (the Cass cube), maintaining some continuity in the branding philosophy of the organization. The logo comes in nine exciting and eye-catching colours, so look out for these on our various designs and adverts.

Another exciting development is on our comprehensive website, which has been enhanced with the ability to Browse (under the new logo). Click here to Browse the Archive and view all of our 242 sculptures, 236 Maquettes, 21 Videos and over 16,000 images. On every visit you will discover something new and inspirational!

And, if this is not making it easy enough to search through the wonders of the sculpture estate (without putting your wellies on), we have added a user-friendly footer with links to the most important and relevant information.
