Rob Ward's Marriage at Goodwood

The Foundation is pleased to announce the arrival of Rob Ward's latest piece, Marriage. Marriage, will join Ward's other fantastically popular work, Gate, on the Foundation's newly landscaped grounds at Goodwood.

In Marriage, as with much of Ward's work, the artist self-consciously makes use of the surface qualities of the material(s) at his disposal. One half of Marriage is fabricated from highly reflective and polished stainless steel. The second half, produced from mild steel, is strategically placed behind the stainless steel 'frontispiece' where it is intended to rust slowly thereby standing in stark contrast, much like a shadow.

The geometry of Marriage references the traditional architectural form of the Christian church and/or cathedral. This is made all the more poignant given the religious connotations suggested through the title of the piece, a title that also makes reference to the two identical forms that comprise this work.
  • Unique
  • Made from stainless steel & mild steel
  • Standing 2.3m high.
