Plasticine Portraits

Upper Gallery, Cass Sculpture Foundation

Tickets: £30.00 (members £30.00)

The aim of this workshop is to create a portrait head out of plasticine. It could be a self portrait, someone you know, a famous person or your dog.

We will start by drawing the subject, exaggerating or reducing features slightly. Then we will take a lump of plasticine, gradually moulding the eye sockets, nose, lips etc, and finally adding hair. You can take your portrait home of squash it up to do another!

Included in your ticket price are plasticine and all tools required. Please bring pencil and paper for your preparatory sketch.

About the workshop leader: Wilfrid Wood is a satirical sculptor. He started out as a headbuilder on the TV programme Spitting Image. Now he makes heads and figures entirely by hand. They are of famous people, invented characters and friends. He uses cheap materials like polymer clay, papier mâché and heaps of plasticine. He is commissioned to sculpt portraits and independently exhibits his work in galleries. He’s inspired by faces, bodies, fashion, friends, celebrities and animals. Wilfrid lives and works in Hackney, East London.

Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled.

Tickets must be booked via Eventbrite as spaces are limited.
