CASS Projects: The Sleeping Procession Guided Tour

Main Gallery, Cass Sculpture Foundation

Free with general entry

Enjoy a one-hour guided tour of the current exhibition The Sleeping Procession in the Main Gallery at CASS.

Co-curated by artists Gabriel Hartley and Sean Steadman, the exhibition investigates the development of maquettes asking ‘at what point is this process of proposal and exploration over, aren’t all artworks suspended in a state of potential and transformation?’ The maquettes from the CASS collection are a key stage in the process of commissioning large-scale sculpture as they allow the artist to work through technical and aesthetic issues, experiment with materials and make adjustments to scale and structure. In order to re-contextualise this collection Hartley and Steadman also invited a pool of contemporary artists to display pre-existing and newly commissioned works.

The exhibition will also offer insight into the work of Cass Sculpture Foundation, its historic archive and special collection of maquettes and works on paper.

The tour is free with general entry however places are limited. Please reserve your space using the booking form or calling us on 01243 538 449.
