Immerse yourself in paper and thread through Bookbinding. Learn Saddle Stitching and Coptic Binding in an afternoon of craft and book appreciation.
This workshop will walk you through the basic techniques for modern and traditional bookbinding, including saddle stitching and the more advanced coptic binding. Learn about self-publishing for artists and how to produce your own book without a publisher. Each stage will be discussed, from sequencing and editing to layout, paper and printing options. You are welcome to bring any project you would like to bind, or produce a plain notebook. A range of photobooks by the host and other small press publishers will also be available for viewing.
The Button, Press is a publishing initiative based between Bournemouth, Bangkok and Bristol. Our mission is to support emerging artists predominately through publications but also through local exhibitions, workshops and other events; the button, press exists to nurture practitioners dedicated to the highest quality of production working within contemporary photographic practice. Since our conception we've worked on projects about: Disappearing Lecturers, Eastern-Bloc Economics, Concrete Photography, Oriental Eeriness and Dutch Zoology. the button, press is Singto Gauvain with help from his friends.
