Description

Sean Henry's new sculpture, Catafalque, continues his theme of the human condition that runs through his work. In Catafalque, we can recognise the expression on the man's face from anyone we have ever looked at properly - pensive, un-provocative, almost stoic. The attentiveness the artist has shown to the modelling and subtle colouring gives Catafalque a strength of character; no clean edges, and skin that almost resembles a painted texture of thick brushstrokes. The result is the viewer being totally drawn in by the sculpture, allowing him to reflect on his own humanity.
