Kiln Project

In 2015 Cass Sculpture Foundation commissioned the build of a wood fire
kiln in response to the increasing number of artists using ceramics in
contemporary art with rare access to this traditional kiln process.

Cass Kiln being used by artist Alex Hoda

The kiln functions simultaneously as a sculpture and a permanent open resource for artists and ceramicists locally, national and internationally.

The kiln is open to interpretation and can be used by anybody wishing to explore the possibilities of clay. Whether you are an individual artist or crafts person looking to develop your practice, and educational institution, pottery course or fine art department wanting to make use of this rare traditional process or a cultural institution looking for a satellite location to run a residency programme: everyone is welcome to apply.
