Bound in place by a taut steel belt, thousands of glass rods cluster together forming a giant glass disk. The changing qualities of light are gathered and focused through these glass elements. Towards the centre of the disk, crystalline patterns emerge, pixelating the scene on the far side.

This sculpture is inspired by thoughts about individual perception, the 'filter' through which each of us sees and relates to the world. I am curious to investigate the fallibility of our senses and of our cognition, and the interaction of our cultural and genetic inheritance with our own subjective experience. Essentially, this is the formula which makes each of us individual.
