Light

Griffiths is currently concerned with the experience of light. This has led from painted abstract representations of light towards the development of solar sculptures that use light as the principal medium.

Light is characteristic of Griffiths' work. The opaque iridescence of the interior is juxtaposed with the stark clarity of the outer surfaces' reflectivity. This exterior enables the piece to become a part of its surroundings which, arguably, results in it becoming an entirely new work depending on its location. However, this renewal in undermined by the luminous band around the piece that punctuates each of the environments that it assumes.
