Spike the Dog

Steven Gregory's work can be characterised by its darkly comic subjects, many of which play upon our childish sensibilities. Spike the dog is part pet, part monster. His oversized reptilian tale, forked tongue and exposed teeth make him cartoonishly grotesque.

Damien Hirst, an exponent of Gregory's work, has aptly stated that 'in these visually bombarding morally conflicting times, seemingly effortlessly he creates art that prods and pokes, ignores and strokes and slaps and stuns us into submission.'
