Matt Bodimeade
Matt Bodimeade was born in Arundel, Sussex, in 1965. He studied at the West Sussex College of Art, Worthing (1983-34) and at Brighton Polytechnic (1985-88). Since leaving college he has been concentrating on developing his work, and has had several commissions. He has also worked in agriculture, forestry and as a carpenter whilst continuing his work as a sculptor.
Journeyman 1993, a large steel structure in the grounds of the Southill Halls of Residence at Southampton University, was commissioned by the architectural practice, Gutteridges, who were responsible for the buildings. Another significant commission was made as a result of a national competition organised by Peacock and Bennington, Agricultural Dealers of Brigg, Lincolnshire. Bodimeade, as the main prizewinner, was asked to make a sculpture to commemorate a hundred years of mechanised arable farming.
Matt Bodimeade lives and works in London and West Sussex.
