Emily Young

Emily Young is a stone-carver who creates large and complex pieces both carved by hand and with the aid of innovative technologies. The presiding value of Young's body of work is to show the natural beauty, constructed in its physical history, of each piece of stone, allowing the visitor to engage with nature. Equipped with both the traditional carving skills of stonemasonry and conceptual agendas of great stone sculptors such as Constantin Brancusi and Auguste Rodin, who sought to find and reveal the form from deep within the stone, Young's work is a symbiosis of both contemporary and ancient forms.
