Steve Dilworth had his first British solo exhibition in 'Acts of Faith' (1991/2), which toured throughout Scotland. Previously, he had several European solo shows and international group exhibitions. Dilworth's first British show was followed by 'The Shamanism of Intent' at Goldmark Gallery and his work was featured in the 'Worlds in a Box' exhibition organised by the South Bank Centre, which then toured the UK for the British Arts Council. Since then, he has exhibited widely in galleries throughout Scotland and all over England, numerous times at the Hart Gallery in London. Additionally, his work his been exhibited in Chicago, Illinois, Hawaii and Germany. In 2002, Dilworth's work was featured in 'Thinking Big' at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice.
A majority of Dilworth's work belongs to permanent collections, such as the Scottish Arts Council Collection and the Knox Collection in Suffolk. He has also undertaken both private and public commissions for various institutions including Scotia Pharmaceuticals, Dundee City Council and Cass Sculpture Foundation. He experiments widely with both form and material but consistently retains his own style and content.
Dilworth's work has been featured in a wide range of publications, television programs and films, including a joint exhibition and film entitled 'Great Book of Gaelic'. In 1990, Dilworth's work was included in a BBC1 program entitled 'Excess' and was featured in the 'Alternative Turner Prize' Late Show on BBC2 in 1991. Dilworth has been invited to lecture at the Royal Academy, London, the Royal Academy, Hague and the Ruskin College of Art, London. He continues to exhibit internationally.
