Sarah Staton

Sarah Staton has been exhibiting internationally in the commercial and museum sectors since graduating from St Martin's School of Art in 1988. Since 2003 she has been based in Sheffield where she has a studio in the purpose built Yorkshire Art Space. As a painter and sculptor, Staton's art moves fluidly between two and three dimensions. Her inventive use of form and material embraces and disrupts familiar conventions of visual grammar. For example, her recent exhibition 'Shucks, Sucks, Sticks, Stacks' at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2008) included stacked sculptures fabricated from wood that occupied a twilight…
