Peter Randall-Page was born in Essex in 1954. He studied at Bath Academy of Art (1973-77). Following his formal education he moved to London and worked with Barry Flanagan for a year. In 1979 he was involved in the conservation of thirteenth-century sculpture at Wells Cathedral in Somerset. In 1980 Randall-Page won a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Travelling Fellowship to study marble carving in Italy.
On moving to Devon in 1987 following the New Milestones project with the assistance of Common Ground, Randall-Page continued his association with the organisation through the Local Distinctiveness project (1989-96). Common Ground unites art and ecology in a movement to stimulate awareness and to enrich the imagination, fostering work in all media. Through the British Council, in 1992 Randall-Page was invited to participate in the Stone Sculpture Symposium in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, and in 1994, again under the aegis of the British Council, he was artist in residence at the Tasmanian Art School, University of Tasmania, and undertook a lecture tour of Australia.
Peter Randall-Page had his first solo exhibition in 1980 at the Gardner Centre, University of Sussex, and has shown regularly since then. Early exhibitions of note were Peter Randall-Page: Sculpture and Drawings, shown at Leeds City Art Gallery and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh, and Arnolfini Gallery, Bristol, organised by The Henry Moore Centre for the Study of Sculpture, 1992; and Peter Randall-Page: Boulders and Banners at Wenlock Priory, Shropshire, and Reed's Wharf Gallery, London.
