Born in Zambia in 1957, Kobus grew up in the South African Transvaal lowveld. He inherited his love and knowledge of indigenous plants from his mother, a micro-biologist. He has widened his interests through reading, and has absorbed technical expertise in metallurgy and chemistry. This he has applied to creating true individual replicas, in bronze, of Southern African indigenous plants, a new concept in this field. His bronzes will help to bring greater appreciation of this natural heritage to a wider public.
