Kaoru studied at Cambridge Arts and Sciences (1997-98); Falmouth College of Art (1998-2002); The Slade School of Fine Art (2002-04) and worked on the Special Research Development Programme at the Slade (2004-2006). Kaoru is a former artist-in residence (2005) at West Dean College.
Kaoru works with everyday objects/mixed media materials and often combines them with simple kinetic mechanisms to drive an installation/object into the state of 'living'. This environment dictates the random effects and record their own histories, measuring time and rhythm. This process is unique and partly uncontrollable, as is life.
