Julian Wild studied Fine Art Sculpture at Kingston University, 1992-1995. Following this, Wild spent several years refining his practice and experimenting with form. Interested in pattern, line and form, Wild began to look at structure and soon developed a distinctive style. Wild is currently occupied with a large series of 'Systems', which are chronologically numbered. These abstract works explore line, space, function, maths and the essence of form and shape.
In 2003, he gained his first major commission for the National Institute for Medical Research, London. This was an installation project and pushed his work into the awareness of the art world. At the same time, Wild's first solo show, 'Bog Standard' was held at The Atrium Gallery at Price Waterhouse Coopers in London. This was followed by a 2004 exhibition entitled 'Model Village', a group show that was co-curated by Wild. He has exhibited regularly ever since.
Wild's work has been commissioned by Millfield School, Schroders Investment Management, Crest Nicholson and numerous private collectors.
Julian Wild's work has been featured in a number of publications, including The Times, the Independent on Sunday, Artist's Newsletter and Time Out. In 2005, Wild was short listed for the prestigious Jerwood Sculpture Prize and was a finalist, displaying his work in the accompanying exhibition.
