'Diver' is in-keeping with Drewett's dark and visceral work that seeks to draw attention to human frailty. The arching form of the piece is almost contorted and possesses an uncanny sense of the monstrous as a result of its quasi-human characteristics. However, this is juxtaposed with the elegant form of the piece that seeks to spirit itself away.

The piece details the spine which has become something of a leitmotif in Drewett's work and is evident in sister pieces such as Around Man. The spine is significant for Drewett as it is, as she has said, 'without any definite sex whilst being the main supporting structure for most creatures - and for most objects.'
