This bronze maquette has a warm, white and gold patina. It is slightly smaller than the model that acted as a guide for Mayer to scale up the monumental version. Pharus is of fire and the flames in this sculptural composition spiral vertically. Set in a stepped circular base, the maquette is given a light appearance, as though the flames just hover on the surface, reaching upwards then away into the atmosphere.
